According to a report from Reuters, Russia, as of March 10, will no longer participate in a consulting group on the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe. This effectively ends Russia's participation in the 1990 security treaty. Russia had already said, in 2007, it would pull out of the treaty. I guess that time is now. For those who follow the news and events in that region, this cannot leave a warm and fuzzy feeling. Shades of the Cold War. As the weather warms, let's hope events and tempers do not heat up,as well. ~Michael S. Pauley
